MUSSELS, ROCK: The Strange Boys

On May 15th, The Strange Boys are opening up for legendary Roky Erickson. It should be a killer show. In September, they will be playing at ACL. That created quite the buzz when the line-up was released. So I thought I would sit down with long-time best friend, Greg from The Strange Boys (the handsome devil second from the right in the picture above) for a little Q&A. By the way, to the best of my sober knowledge, I have never used The Strange Boys to get laid.


1. When can a full length record be expected from you guys?

The full length is done and should be out sometime towards the end of the year on In the Red records.

2. ACL... How'd that happen?

They offered 1000 dollars cash.

3. Why hasn't Matt Hammer been arrested?

He's actually a fugitive on the run in Mexico. His real name is Mateo Habanero.

4. Where is your favorite place to play in Austin?(Beerland doesn't count since one of ya'll works there.)

I'd have to say Beerland because Phillip works there.

5. Who uses the band to get laid the most?

I think you use our band, MUSSELS, to get laid more than any of us. So, you.

6. Is there a tour in the works for this summer? If so, with who?

This June we're going on a short tour on our way to a festival in Alabama called Bamalama. Just about 9 days.

7. Is there any new material to be expected from you guys at upcoming shows?

In a couple months, we will have a single out on In the Red records. It's done, just printing it up and doing all the pressing.

8. Finally, is there anything that you want to add?
